AN EXCITING AND RARE OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for someone with a lively enquiring mind who also wants to be actively involved making a traditional handcrafted material as a long term career.
Initially this is a traineeship/apprenticeship. As well as learning the essential skills and elements of parchment making (Some of which is hard physical work), you will also be mentored in the day to day operations of the business. This will include quality control, sourcing and selecting raw materials, finance, talking with and understanding customers and suppliers as well as office procedures so that, in the event of the managers absence, you could temporarily step in for him.
• In short, you would (once trained) be the managers right hand person, involved in most aspects of the business in conjunction with him and our senior craftsman Lee. We hope the right applicant will become one of the 3 senior staff who will take the business forward and develop the exciting potential of this unique material in the 21st century.
• Salary is not pre determined and will depend partly on relevant previous experiences, abilities and qualifications, Experience in parchment making is highly unlikely, so potential is more important than previous experience. If you do have any specific salary expectations please mention it in your application.
